World Of Warcraft Mage Guide

Utilizing its ability to cast spells the Mage can be a fearsome opponent for mobs, especially in the later stages of the game when the Mage is equipped with some pretty harmful magic spells. In Melee combat situations unfortunately it is a different story. This area of expertise is better left to the far superior Paladin and Warrior classes.

Are you more interested in being a member of the good guys or the dark side? This choice relies heavily upon which particular race character you want to role play WoW as. The Alliance, considered to be the good guys will only allow you to play the game with predetermined races. The same applies to the Horde.

If you have your mind set on role playing with either the Human, Gnome or Draenei race character then you will have to pledge allegiance to the Alliance. On the other hand if you opt to play as a Troll, Blood Elf or Undead then it is going to have to be the Horde faction.


In the early stages of leveling up it is a smrt idea to avoid situations where you need plenty of protection or great Melee skills, as your only means of protection is armor made of cloth. Although this is better than nothing it is advisable to be very careful.

Your next decision to be made is to decide just how you are going to make a living and become a rich WoW player. The first step is to select the profession that you are going to role play with.

Herbalism, Alchemy and Enchanting are the three professions that I would recommend you to select as your primary profession. They offer skills and items that fit in with your duties and natural abilities.

Just like real life you need to know the basics before you can become an expert. You will need to gain apprentice training before you can go any further. Your apprentice training will be undertaken by an apprentice trainer, with the prerequisite experience. All apprentice trainers are NPC (Non Player Characters), totally under the control of Blizzard Entertainment's computer software.

You will now have a basic understanding of how to use your staves and wand for casting spells. While not the greatest weapons of mass destruction they are better than nothing. You will need to quickly learn how to use your magic skills if you want to be able to protect yourself from possible death.
